When visiting a château, it is best to be properly attired! It makes the visit so much more fun.
So when they arrive, children from 4 to 12 can – depending on the weather – borrow one of the many costumes on offer.

A play area by the old washhouse is a perfect place for little ones to have fun.
► Boat hire
Rent a boat, for a trip on the Indre and discover l’Islette from a different perspective.
For your safety, and to ensure it is a relaxing and enjoyable trip, this activity is only available when the river current and weather conditions allow.

You can picnic in the park, by the river…
Details of picnic spots are available from the ticket office.
Tables are available on the river banks or near the play area, but it is advisable to bring a blanket to picnic on the grass or under a shady tree.
In case of rain, you can shelter in one of the farm buildings.
Need a picnic? There are several excellent food shops in Azay-le-Rideau from which you can buy tasty delights for your meal.
Situated on the ground floor of the old mill, you will find in particular a selection of books and souvenirs of Camille Claudel and Rodin.
► Snack Bar
Buy a hot or cold drink in the shop and take a seat at one of the tables around the mill. If it’s a bit chilly, there is also a room with a fire in the fireplace for you to use.
And finally…relax in one of the deckchairs set out along the river and make the most of the l’Islette’s quiet calm.
